Quiet Pride

This is part of a daily writing project in conjunction with photographer Sarah Tesar. For every day of May 2017 I will be writing a short piece inspired by Sarah’s daily photos as posted on her Instagram feed.

Pride. Tall, guarded pride. A secretly lone figure, hidden amongst others. With private strength, standing firm. Quiet. Indiscernible. Braced against anything that may come, whether it comes or not.

And yet nobody knows. Such powerful fortitude, ready for war. Yet nobody knows. They move in their own worlds, around the stolid, sedentary figure. Stern and still, and ignored. But thinking otherwise. Suspecting, and anticipating. And ready.

Guarded.

Quietly proud.
